Axis A3

Temperature: Honey (sweet) vs. Lash (cold), and whether you like it sweet or cold

Temperature is one of the axes SM Personal Test uses to describe kinks: it shows whether you lean toward Honey (sweet) or Lash (cold).

What this axis describes

This axis is about the temperature of the game. Is it Honey, with "good girl" or "good boy," rewards and a hug after the punishment, or Lash, with penalty rules, swats you have to count out loud and a cold "Again"? The questions behind it are ordinary personality questions about whether, when torn, you weigh people's feelings or consistency. Those who value feelings we read as sweet, and those who value consistency as cold. Even on the cold side, the blanket, the glass of water and a few kind words afterward come as part of the set: aftercare belongs to the scene at any temperature.

HHoney (sweet)

You tend to burn when there is affection, reward and tenderness in it. Whether a collar is going on or a palm is coming down, you want to feel cherished underneath. A pat on the head and "good job" for doing well, a kiss as a reward for taking ten, then wrapping up in a blanket and being fed something sweet afterward: all of it is part of the scene. Sometimes the sweetness runs so high that the punishment stops being much of a punishment.

Where it tends to show

  • A simple "good girl" or "good boy" turns you to mush, or you love saying it
  • After the punishment comes plenty of pampering, given or received
  • You put real thought into the rewards, down to the gold stars
  • After a spanking you want to cool the skin with a damp towel
  • The blanket and pillow talk afterward count as the main event

LLash (cold)

You tend to burn on rules, distance and a certain lack of mercy. "Count them. Get it wrong and we start over": you either hear that line or say it. Pleading earns a flat "Not yet," and an unpermitted sound adds one more to the tally. That cool line is exactly what gets you going. You keep your head rather than getting swept up, and the cold player's etiquette is to set the signals warmly in advance, so a real limit never goes unnoticed, and to come back for the other person with real care the moment it is over.

Where it tends to show

  • Breaking a rule should add to the penalty
  • "Count them. Miss one and we start over" sends a shiver down your spine
  • A cold look and a curt "Again" land hard
  • Rewards should be hard to earn
  • A short command works better than sweet talk

How it relates to the Big Five

The questions on this axis draw on ideas related to Agreeableness in the Big Five. Leaning toward harmony loosely overlaps with valuing compassion and cooperation, and leaning toward logic with valuing frankness and objectivity. Recasting that as sweet versus cold is the SM Personal Test's own game, not a scientifically tested link.

How SM Personal Test measures it

The questions themselves are ordinary personality questions. For your public-face result, we pick 6 to 10 questions that feed into Temperature from a pool of 16, choosing each one based on your earlier answers (adaptive testing). The questions on this axis stop once the estimate is precise enough.

For your hidden-face result, Temperature is measured again with 3 questions about how things feel to you on your own, the feelings that linger afterward, and what goes through your mind. Because public and hidden faces sit on the same axis, you can see exactly how far your public character and your private desires drift apart.

What a boundary means

If the confidence that you lean toward one pole of Temperature is below 75%, we do not force a call and show "boundary" instead. Personality scores cluster around the middle, so landing on the boundary is entirely natural. You can think of yourself as a switch who flips between the Honey (sweet) side and the Lash (cold) side depending on the partner and the mood.

Types on each side

What is your kink type?

From ordinary personality questions, we expose your Public face (the play style others see) and your Hidden face (the craving you keep to yourself) on the same axes. Holding the rope or tied up in it? Doing the teasing or begging for it? Adults only (18+), free, no sign-up, about 3 minutes for the quick test.

An adults-only (18+) entertainment quiz. It is not a medical or psychological diagnosis.

Are you 18 or older?

SM Personal Test is adult entertainment that openly covers BDSM, fetishes and play. It is not available to anyone under 18.

We write about toys, rope, dirty talk and teasing at the level of an adult how-to guide (no depictions of sex itself). Results are not a medical or psychological diagnosis, just play for consenting adults.
